Cheap, Easy Vegan Meals (How To Eat Vegan For A Week For $20)

Back in July, I embarked on a challenge I’d often seen on YouTube but never actually attempted myself: trying to make a week of vegan meals for just twenty dollars.

Now I’ll admit, this was not the easiest thing I’ve ever done. And as it was my first try, I’m not sure how great I did on things like protein content–although, I was able to work in a decent amount of fruits and vegetables.

With all that being said, the intent of this was just to show that it’s possible.

Often people, when criticizing veganism, bring up the high cost of vegan foods (such as meat and cheese replacements, and sometimes produce) as a reason to not be vegan.

And I’m certainly not denying this. Brands like Gardein and Daiya can be eye-poppingly expensive (which is why I tell everyone to give Grocery Outlet a whirl).

But the fact is, if you shop sales, choose ingredients carefully, and actually have the time to cook, it is very possible to eat inexpensively as a vegan.
