Tofu Onion Dip with Carrot Dippers: $6 Snack For Your Meal Prep

Tofu Onion Dip with Carrot Dippers: $6 Snack For Your Meal Prep

Now more than ever, it’s important to have some affordable recipes in our arsenal.

Whether it be for meal prep or entertaining guests, having inexpensive dishes to serve is a must for many of us.

That’s why I love today’s recipe so much: not only is it really good, all the ingredients come in at just under $6.

This dip is perfect for serving to company, or just for meal prepping snacks for the week. Let me show you how to make it!

The Ingredients

For this recipe, all you’ll need is a block of tofu (I used extra-firm), a box of onion soup & dip mix, a container of seasoned salt, and a bag of carrots (or whatever you’d like to serve with your dip).

All together, the total for the ingredients shown came to $5.96. Not bad, I’d say!

The Prep

This dip comes together in all of about five minutes. I like to wash my carrots really well first, just to be safe!

You’ll start the dip by adding the tofu (cubing it helps it blend easier) to your high-speed blender with 1/2 cup of water. Blend the tofu until it’s completely smooth.

Next, pour the blended tofu into a small or medium bowl. Add one pouch of the onion soup mix (2 may be used for a stronger onion flavor, but I tasted it and was happy with one pouch).

Finally, add as much of the seasoned salt as you desire (some black pepper may also be added if you happen to have some).

I went with the seasoned salt because it included other spices such as garlic, onion and celery seed that I thought would add to the flavor.

Whisk this mixture really well to insure you incorporate all the seasonings, then cover and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.

The Final Dish

And there you have it! Creamy, savory dip served with fresh, crunchy carrots. This dip is also great because, thanks to the tofu, you get an extra shot of protein!

The dip (and the bagged carrots) is enough to serve 3-5 people, depending on how hungry you are. This means that at the end of the day, you’re paying around $1.19 per serving.

This dip is great for meal prep, lunchboxes, or even serving to guests!
