5 Great Implements For Your Vegan Kitchen

5 Great Implements For Your Vegan Kitchen

Many of the things on this list are not what I would call “necessities,” but I would say are still good to have in a vegan kitchen. I have all 5 in my kitchen and use them relatively often, and so I would recommend having them.

These are 5 basics that can be greatly helpful in your vegan cooking endeavors. I’ll also include cheaper alternatives for some of the items where applicable.

But without further ado, here are 5 great implements and gadgets for your vegan kitchen:

1. High-Speed Blender

I would say that a high-speed blender is a vital tool to have. It can be used to make smoothies, sauces, ice cream and much more.

I’ve used my high speed blender for many of the recipes on this website, such as my Vegan Ricotta and my Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. I have a Nutribullet, but some other brands exist such as Vitamix and Ninja.

2. Spiralizer

A spiralizer is great for many things, including but not limited to making vegetable noodles and curly french fries. Spiralizers can be especially useful for those following gluten-free or low-carb diets.

I love to make Zoodles with Spinach & Sun-Dried Tomatoes, but that’s just one of many recipes you can use spiralizer noodles in. If you’d rather not invest in a spiralizer, a vegetable peeler can also be used to make zucchini (and other vegetable) noodles.

3. Nut Milk Bags/Cheesecloth

Making your own nut milk is actually not a hard thing to do (and can sometimes even be cheaper than buying it at the store). A good nut milk bag will ensure that your homemade milk is smooth and lump-free.

I also mention cheesecloth because it’s also possible to make your own homemade vegan cheese (even specialty cheeses that you don’t typically find in the store, such as provolone, gouda, and even vegan goat cheese).

I’m a bit new to vegan cheesemaking, but I once made a vegan buffalo wing cheese that came out pretty good!

4. Rice Cooker

I love my rice cooker! It’s so simple and easy to use, doesn’t take up much counter space, and allows me to cook rice without having to get out a big pot.

Rice is a great staple for your vegan meals, especially brown rice, in addition to other grains (such as quinoa and barley). It’s great for fiber and protein, and is perfect for grain bowls, burritos, homemade sushi and more. Not to mention it’s cheap!

5. Tofu Press

The tofu press is a pretty smart invention: it squeezes a lot of the water out of your tofu so that it has a better texture when you cook it. It’s great if you want to make a recipe where the tofu needs to be more solid, such as tofu nuggets.

While I have a tofu press and would recommend getting one if it’s in your budget, it’s not absolutely necessary. You can definitely just wrap the tofu in paper towels, put a plate on top of it and then top that plate with a heavy object and you’ll have much the same effect as a tofu press.

And that’s the list! I hope this post helps you out a little as far as finding tools to aid you on your vegan journey. If you can think of something that I didn’t include in this post, please consider leaving a comment to help out your fellow readers!

Thank you, and until next time peace 🙂
