15 Quick & Easy Vegan Snack Ideas

15 Quick & Easy Vegan Snack Ideas

As a vegan, do you ever struggle with what to have for a snack?

Because sure, breakfast can be cereal and tofu scrambles. Lunches can be buddha bowls and bean burritos. Dinner can be the classic grain+green+bean, or even a can of soup with a vegan grilled cheese.

But what on earth do you have for a snack? If you’re new to veganism, perhaps some of your old standbys are now a no-go, such as cheese sticks, dairy yogurt, or veggies dipped in ranch dressing.

The great news is that there are a lot of great swaps for vegans, many of which are simple enough to grab and go on a busy day.

So if you’ve ever felt stumped as far as what to nosh on throughout the day, read on!

1. Crackers and hummus.

A classic standby. My favorites are roasted red pepper or buffalo hummus. Make sure your crackers don’t contain any dairy ingredients.

2. Protein bar.

Make sure the protein source is plant-based, rather than whey. CLIF bar is one of my favorite brands!

3. Carrots and vegan ranch.

Daiya has a great vegan ranch option. If you can’t find it though, you can swap it out for hummus or make your own ranch.

4. Buffalo Cauliflower.

A tasty and spicy snack, which goes great with the aforementioned vegan ranch.

5. Snack smoothie.

Blend frozen berries and non-dairy milk together for a refreshing and relatively low-calorie snack.

6. Banana drizzled with melted vegan chocolate.

7. Apple slices with almond butter.

8. Microwave mug cake.

Microwave mug cake recipes abound on the interwebs. You could be indulging in a chocolate mug cake in less than 5 minutes!

9. Popcorn.

Popcorn is another snack that is relatively low-calorie, filling, and just plain old fun to eat. Try seasoning with a drizzle of coconut oil and a sprinkle of sea salt.

10. Fruity sorbet.

Since sorbet (not to be confused with sherbet) is often made without dairy, it’s much easier to find an accidentally vegan variety at the store! Just make sure to double-check the ingredients.

11. Avocado toast.

12. Mushroom jerky.

Vegan jerky is one of the most satisfying snacks I can think of. One of my favorite brands is Giorgio Portabella Jerky, though Primal is also a wonderful (non-mushroom) jerky.

13. Almond yogurt + blueberries.

Top your almond (or soy) yogurt with a handful of blueberries for a pop of sweetness and some extra fiber.

14. Tortilla pizza.

Tortilla pizza is one of the easiest recipes known to man. Simply lay a tortilla on a baking sheet, top with marinara sauce and a sprinkle of vegan cheese (such as Daiya or Follow Your Heart) and Italian seasonings if desired, and bake at 375F until the cheese melts (5-10 minutes). Delicious!

15. Vegan nuggets and BBQ sauce.

Zucchini fritters, TVP chick’n tenders, and chickpea nuggets all make for fun finger food snacks.

I hope this post was helpful to you! Snacks are just as important as any other meal, so it’s important to make them count. Happy snacking!
