A St. Patrick’s Day Copycat! How To Make Starbucks Iced Lavender Matcha Latte From Home
I’m a huge matcha fan. I used to love buying a delicious iced oatmilk matcha latte. Thing is, it’s so much easier to make it from home! And cheaper too, if we’re honest here.
So of course when I heard Starbucks came out with a new iced lavender matcha drink, I just knew I had to attempt to recreate it myself as well.
Now I don’t know about the Starbucks version, but when I tell you my version is so freaking good, please know that I’m not exaggerating.
If you enjoy both matcha and lavender in any capacity, I can almost guarantee this’ll become your new fave drink.
It’s so easy to make, too. It takes all of about five minutes, probably less time than you’d be waiting in the drive thru line to order one. I even took the liberty of doing a price breakdown for you:
Our drink costs a total of $1.55, whereas the Starbucks version costs $6.34?! Like what?! It’s so easy to make this drink at home for pennies in comparison.
The lavender-flavored foam takes a little extra time and is also totally optional; it’s not necessary at all for this to be a ridiculously 10 out of 10 drink.
You can add a little purple food coloring to the foam as well to make it look pretty, but that’s not necessary either–cool, yes, but not necessary.
The best part is that this drink is perfect for right now and also for spring: green for St. Patrick’s day, yet also spring colors for when warmer weather starts to roll around (finally!)
Copycat Iced Lavender Matcha Latte
Equipment
- milk frother
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp warm water
- 2 tsp matcha powder
- 1 tbsp vanilla-flavored coffee syrup (such as Torani or Jordan's Skinny Syrups)
- 1 tsp lavender extract (make sure it's food grade)
- 1 cup oat milk
- purple food coloring (up to 1/8th of a teaspoon)
- ice, as desired
Instructions
- Add desired amount of ice to a 16 ounce glass.
- In a separate 1 cup liquid measuring cup, add the water and the matcha powder. Whisk using a whisk or a frother until combined and no matcha flecks remain. You may wish to use a matcha sieve to sift your matcha into the cup.
- Pour the matcha mixture over the ice, then rinse and dry the measuring cup. Add the vanilla syrup, lavender extract, and oat milk to the measuring cup and whisk to combine.
- To create purple cold foam: after whisking the oat milk mixture, save 3 tablespoons on the side before pouring the rest into the glass with the matcha mixture (you can stir the drink at this time). Stir up to 1/8th of a teaspoon of purple food coloring into the reserved oat milk, then whisk with a frother until foamy. Pour on top of the drink, then serve!
