Holiday Cookie Jars: A Sweet Gift For The Vegan In Your Life
Whether you’re in search of a last-minute gift for the vegan in your life, or if you just want to give the gift of something homemade this season, a cookie mason jar may be just the idea you’re searching for.
One of the best things about this gift idea is that you probably already have most of the ingredients in your pantry right now. And if not, there are easy substitutes, not to mention the ingredients are easy enough to find in your average grocery store.
Your vegan and dairy-free friends will be so touched you thought of them, especially if they also like to bake (if that’s not really their thing, consider baking the cookies according to the tag recipe and just give them a cookie tray!) Not only are you giving them the sweetness of a homemade gift, but a fun, semi-involved activity they can participate in–and devour.
These mason cookie jars are easy enough to put together. I will include recipe tag and fabric circle measurement downloads below, as well as the recipe for putting together your cookie mason jars.

So, let’s get baking, y’all! 🙂
Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Jars
Equipment
- Mason Jar (Quart Size)
- Wide Funnel (or clean piece of copier paper)
- Tart Tamper
- Festive fabric (such as that of a fat quarter)
- Curling ribbon and scissors
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour white flour may be subbed
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup sugar coconut sugar or erythritol may be subbed
- 1 1/2 cup vegan chocolate chunks I used Enjoy Life
Instructions
- Ensure that your mason jar is clean and very dry before beginning. You may wish to print out both PDFs referenced in this post, and have your selected fabric and curling ribbon handy.
- Cut out fabric template circle and trace it onto your fabric with a pen, then cut out your fabric circle. You may also cut out and hole-punch your recipe tags at this point. Set these items aside for now.
- Using a piece of clean paper, roll the paper into a funnel and put it into the mason jar (if you have a wide funnel, that may be used).
- Spoon the ingredients into the funnel in the following order: flour, baking soda and salt, rolled oats, sugar, vegan chocolate chunks. Use the tart tamper to lightly level each ingredient after adding it.
- Replace the flat lid on your mason jar, draping your fabric circle over it evenly before replacing the band. Tie ribbon around the band, using it to affix the recipe tag to the jar before curling it with a scissor. Well done!
I hope all of you are able to find a way to enjoy and celebrate this time of year. Sending love and light 🙂
